Last night representatives from DGLA attended the DART board meeting in which the board voted on adding the term “gender identity” to their EEO policy.  The mood felt some what tense as various members of the community went up to the podium to speak  during the public comments portion of the meeting. This tension was due to the same board’s vote a week prior which put into place a single word that because of its placement would nullify the protections the board was purporting to put into place and rolled back the protections it had had for the past 15 years for their employees with regard to their sexual orientation.

DGLA's Damien Duckett was on WFAA Channel 8 News to talk about the ban on gay men donating blood.  The US Food and Drug Administration is considering dropping or modifying the ban later this year.  The ban which dates from the early years of the AIDS epidemic bans men from donating blood if they admit to ever having sex with men.  All blood donations have been screened for HIV since 1985.

That's what Stephen Colbert says about the latest ad - "Gathering Storm" - from the National Organization For Marriage (NOM).

The Colbert Coalition's very funny parody of the NOM ad is spot-on and, of course, grippy.  But his is not the only one out there...check out these too:

The Daily Show's co-creator Lizz Winstead offers up her take on the NOM ad, noting, "In this response to their claims, we spent about 150 bucks on a green screen, some lights, a honey baked ham and some beer."

Funny Or Die has a star-studded NOM ad, featuring Sarah Chalke, George Takei, Alicia Silverstone, Lance Bass, and Jane Lynch, among others.

And then there's Gotcha Media's "Gathering Twister" in which Helen Hunt, Bill Paxton, & Philip Seymour Hoffman actually do battle with a powerful fear-instilling gay marriage funnel cloud in the valiant fight to protect opposite marriage.
