DGLA Don Baker Education Fund

The DGLA Don Baker Education (DBEF) fund is the educational arm of DGLA. The DBEFis a 501(c)(3) non-profit educational organization that educates both within the GLBTcommunity and in the larger North Texas community.

The DBEF works to educate and empower the GLBT community, our allies, and the public at large through diversity education, town hall meetings, community outreach programs, voter education, and Leadership Lambda leadership and activism education.

Programs of the DBEF include:

• GLBT diversity education of Dallas (and other North Texas community’s) first-responders. DGLA has been conducting comprehensive GLBT diversity education for all City of Dallas Police Academy recruits for over 15 years and all City of Dallas Fire & Rescue Academy recruits for more than 5 years.

• Leadership and activism education for the GLBT community through Leadership Lambda and the Leadership Lambda Academy.

• Town hall meetings focusing on community issues such as crime or the Dallas non-discrimination ordinance.

• Voter education through candidate forums on issues of interest to the GLBTcommunity.
